Unlimited windfarms for Powys: HAVE YOUR SAY
Published Date:

AN UNLIMITED number of windfarms could be built in three areas of mid and north Powys under planning guidance proposals, out for consultation.
Powys County Council (PCC) had wanted to cap the number of wind turbines that can be built in the three Strategic Search Areas (SSAs) identified by the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG), but has been told it cannot after taking legal advice and speaking to WAG ministers.
The move means the council will be able to do little to prevent as many as 19 new wind-farms being built in the three SSAs at Newtown South (south Montgomeryshire and north Radnorshire), Carno North (central Montgomeryshire) and Nant-y-Moch (Powys/Ceredigion border).
