THE Prince of Wales has chosen to exhibit a pair of his watercolour paintings at the Tabernacle in Machynlleth.
Two pieces of art done by Prince Charles will be on view at the Tabernacle's autumn exhibition of the Watercolour Society of Wales from September 15 to October 25.
Henry Stephens, chairman of the society, said: "We are delighted that His Royal Highness will exhibit with us in Machynlleth. He is the patron of our society and he has exhibited with us in the past, but this is the first time he has done so as our patron. He is an accomplished artist and we are proud that his work will be exhibited alongside that of our members at Machynlleth."
The Watercolour Society of Wales was founded in 1959 and holds exhibitions of its members' work every year throughout Wales. Most of the members are professional painters with others coming from backgrounds like architecture and sculpture, but all are accomplished artists living and working in Wales.
In 2009 the society will celebrate its 50th birthday, and will hold three exhibitions in Wales to celebrate this important milestone, at Rhyl Museum and Arts Centre, The National Library, Aberystwyth, and at The Taliesin Gallery at University College Swansea.
The Tabernacle gallery also has a permanent collection of work from Welsh artists from 1900 onwards.
The gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm and admission is free.
