MONTGOMERYSHIRE pupils have achieved outstanding GCSE results with the percentage of A* to C grades six per cent above the Wales average.
Across the county more than seven out of 10 results (72 per cent) are at grades A* to C.

Results at grades A* to C have also increased by more than two per cent, while results at A* to A have risen by almost one per cent.

The percentage of grades A* to C in Powys is six per cent more than Wales as a whole.

The overall pass rate of grades A* to G has also risen significantly by almost one per cent this year and is now over 99 per cent, one per cent higher than the all-Wales pass rate of a little over 98 per cent.

A spokesman for Powys County Council said: "These results exceed the high standards seen in previous years' performance and remain consistently well above the all-Wales averages."
