MEMBERS of the Llanrhaeadr Football Club have volunteered to undertake a relay to Mount Snowdon and back on June 27 and 28.
The challenge is being organised by the Llanrhaeadr Supporters group, who are aiming to raise money for local causes by completing The Snowdon Challenge 2008.

The group aims to raise £3,000 to purchase some medical equipment – two defibrillators – plus training in their use and in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) that can be used in this community.

The equipment will be placed in two sites in and around the village, one in the Recreation Pavilion and the other on the village square.

The relay will leave Llanrhaeadr Recreation Field at 7pm on June 27 and the relay team will return to Llanrhaeadr Recreation Field late afternoon/ early evening on June 28, followed by a celebratory barbecue at the Wynnstay Arms – which will be open to everyone in the village.

A dawn walk to the top of Snowdon on June 28 by the Walking Group is also planned – anyone wishing to join this should contact Steve Griffiths or Dei Williams on 01691 780496.

The Snowdon Challenge has the support of the local GP Surgery and the organisers have been in touch with the British Heart Foundation for advice.

For anyone wishing to sponsor an individual taking part in the event, forms are available in shops in the village. Any donation/ pledge will be gratefully received. Further information about the event can be obtained from Frances Hunt on 01691 780139.
