A MIRACULOUS escape from a certain-death situation – a farm worker was fortunate to survive after the tractor he was driving spectacularly plummeted 900 metres down an embankment.

Chris Williams, 35, had been working on top of a hill at Cil Haul Farm, in Trefeglwys, when the tractor he was driving lost its grip on wet ground and fell down the steep incline.

Remarkably, he would have been killed if he HAD been wearing his seat belt. He was catapulted out of the tractor as it fell wildly down the hill, a lucky escape that wouldn't have happened if he had been strapped in.

"He would have been killed, no doubt about it," said Myra Williams, Chris' wife; "The fact he decided not to wear a seat belt this time has saved his life."

Chris' lucky escape happened on July 10; however the scars caused to the hillside by the fallen tractor still remain a week later, along with the wreckage of the vehicle itself.
