A LARGE quantity of drugs has been seized in early morning raids at two Llanfyllin properties.

The drugs recovered included amphetamines, ecstasy, skunk, Jamaican weed and two types of cannabis resin.

Police say that the drugs were being prepared for sale over the weekend of the Llanfyllin Workhouse Festival (July 4 to 6) and that the raids were conducted following information gathered by the Llanfyllin North Neighbourhood Police Officer.

Following the raids one man was arrested and bailed pending further investigation into supplying drugs over a three year period, while two women were issued with cautions.

A Police spokesman also revealed that another man is to be arrested in connection with possession offences.

The raids were carried out by Llanfyllin North Neighbourhood Policing Team with assistance from Welshpool and Newtown Police.

Anyone with information concerning the drugs trade in the Llanfyllin area can contact PC 987 Youens at Llanfyllin police station 0845 3302000.
