TWO men from Newtown have been arrested by counter-terror police as part of an investigation into the Tamil Tigers.
Two men, aged 39 and 46, were arrested in dawn raids at separate addresses in Newtown, Powys, while a third from South West London , aged 33, has also been arrested.

The arrests are said to be part of a long-term investigation into the Sri-Lankan-based group.

Dyfed Powys Police can confirm it is supporting the MPS in the arrests of two men under the Terrorism Act and the search of properties in Newtown.

"We would like to reassure our communities that arrests of this nature in the force area are rare and they should not be unduly alarmed," said a spokesman.

"The investigation is not linked to Al-Qaeda and we don't believe there was a risk to the local community. "
