LLANIDLOES saw their title hopes dented by fellow promotion rivals Bala on Friday.
The match was blighted by the conditions which saw both sides struggle to pass and move in a growing mudbath.
Such was the low standard of play a total of 10 kicks were wasted between the sides during a drab 80 minutes which produced a solitary try.
Bala outside half Rhydian Jones was one of the culprits only to atone by kicking the hosts ahead only for Llanidloes to hit back with a penalty of their own from full-back Dan Short before the welcome half-time break.
Despite boasting a man advantage for one spell of the second-half Llanidloes failed to capitalise and were punished when Ifan Hughes forced his way over for a try.
Llanidloes created a handful of chances but with the conditions now all but unplayable could not find a way to break down Bala’s solid and staunch resolve.
Skipper Huw Owen said: “It was a disappointing result which followed a bad day at the office from Llanidloes’ point of view.”
