MALDWYN Leisure Centre’s swimming pool will re-open on Monday, January 24, after a month’s closure for major refurbishment.

As part of the £92,000 refurbishment, the 30-year-old pool has been re-tiled and has a new disabled changing area.

The old foot baths have gone, providing easier access to the pool for disabled users and saving money on water. A sauna is now also available for users.

Councillor Gwyn Gwillim, board member for leisure services, said: “I am delighted to see the pool re-opening after major improvement work. This popular centre now has even more to offer and I look forward to seeing further improvements in the near future.”

To mark the re-opening all swims will cost just 50p on Saturday, January 29, between 10am and 4pm. There will be a range of special offers and discounts available at the centre until the end of March.

Work has already started to up- grade the leisure centre’s athletics as part of the same project with improvements expected to be completed by April.
