Central Wales Cup, third round

Four Crosses 1 Dyffryn Banw 2

MARK Griffiths had a roller-coaster afternoon at Foxon Manor with his extra-time winner sending Dyffryn Banw into the fourth round and crushing a stunned Crosses.

Crosses had their chances but a mixture of poor finishing and string of excellent saves from Banw goalkeeper Gary Foster ensured a night of celebration for Banw.

Banw led with Gerallt Davies rising to head home Dyfrig Jones' corner but the Mid Wales League second division high fliers proceeded to test the visiting rearguard.

Gareth Jones fired over while Jones also forced a smart save from Foster who recovered to deny Elliott Townsend the follow-up as Crosses probed.

Four Crosses levelled in the second-half with Steve Tomkins hauled down in the area by Griffiths with Paul Bache despatching the resulting penalty.

However, Bache spurned a later spot-kick in extra-time after Gaz Jones had been impeded and the hosts were punished when Griffiths atoned for his previous blunder by lobbing home a 40-yard wondergoal.

CROSSES: Barton, Lewis, Dutton, D Jones, Bache, Townsend, Wilcock, R Morris, Gunn, G Jones, I Jones. Subs: Benyon, Tomkins
BANW: Foster, D Jones, Tudor, Griffiths, A Jones, B Jones, G Davies, G Evans, G Lewis, R Davies, Vaughan, Subs: R Roberts, Bennett
