Tondu 10 Builth Wells 30
BUILTH Wells maintained their remarkable new year revival with a comfortable win at Tondu.
The Bulls have been reborn in 2011 with director of rugby David Jones insisting the revival was down to hard work.
“The lads are putting in the hard work in training and on match day so they deserve the credit they are getting,” said Jones.
“Getting relegated knocks the confidence out of you but the lads are over that disappointment now and working hard for each other.
“Credit also goes to coaches Jeremy Pugh and Nick Howells who continue to work hard for the good of the team.”
Builth started like lightning with their early domination leading to a brace of penalties kicked by fly-half John Thurston.
However occasional loss of discipline continues to hamper the Bulls who were caught out before half-time with prop Lloyd Elliott crossing for an unconverted score.
Builth dominated the second-half with a monumental forward effort seeing a 40 yard rolling maul lead to captain Ben Duggan to cross.
Builth added a further score to their tally with prop Jonathan Taylor completing a flowing move for an unconverted try.
Tondu mustered a reply with second row Gareth Fudge crossing for a soft try.
Builth had the final say of the afternoon with the inform Thurston setting up wing Mike Powell to cross with Rob Lloyd converting.
The bonus point was secured when a penalty try was awarded following a succession of infringements with Thurston converting.
