A GWYNEDD man won a brave battle against the elements as he completed his epic charity challenge.
Andrew Craig, 43, of Caernarfon, raised around £15,000 from 52 weekly walks up Snowdon in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness.
He said: “I feel brilliant about the money raised and the way that people have supported me is unbelievable.”
Andrew faced heavy snow, high winds, rain and sweltering summer temperatures to complete the challenge.
He said: “You can get the weather forecast before you go up, but it isn’t necessarily like when you’re on the mountain.
“The weather can change instantly.”
The keen mountain walker, a retained firefighter and branch manager at Travis Perkins in Caernarfon, advertised on his Just Giving website to take people up the mountain in return for a £25 donation.
He said: “People who have donated have been affected by breast cancer in some way and I have one or two emotional stories.”
Andrew expected to raise around £1,000 , but eventually took around 200 people from as far afield as London, Ireland and Cardiff up Snowdon.
He decided to raise funds for the charity after two close friends battled against breast cancer in the past couple of years.
Andrew plans to undertake a fundraising event each month this year in aid prostate cancer research.
The challenges include an ice climb up Snowdon later this month, a parachute jump, the Snowdon Marathon and a trip to the Great Wall of China.
Andrew added: “If there is one person out there who checks themself or looks at my website for links to cancer advice, I feel I will have done well.”
