MONTGOMERYSHIRE AM Mick Bates has been handed a £4,250 fine by Cardiff Magistrates' Court after being found guilty of assault.
Liberal Democrat politician Bates, 63, of Llanfair Caereinion, was found three guilty of three common assault charges and three public order offences following a six-day trial at Cardiff Magistrates' Court earlier today (Friday).
He was fined £4,250, ordered to pay £600 compensation, £625 costs and a victim surcharge - making a total £5,490. The District Judge Bodfan Jenkins said he had taken into account Bates' previous good character when sentencing.
