COUNCIL chiefs are asking residents to jump on board with their local transport consultation.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has developed a draft for a Local Transport Plan that sets out transport priorities for the next fifteen years.

The authority is now asking residents across the borough to give their views on the plans and help finalise the strategy and priorities which will come into effect in April 2011.

Executive member for community and environment, Cllr Lynn Riley said: “Transport and how traffic flows on the borough’s highways is an issue for everyone. It affects all of our daily lives, from getting to and from work, collecting children and even doing the weekly shop, as well as impacting on the environment and climate change.

“We are keen to make sure that everybody who has a view about transport and highways within the borough has a chance to have their voice heard and I would urge people to have their say by filling in a questionnaire form.”

A summary brochure, detailing initial ideas on what policies and priorities need to be taken forward and a more detailed policy document are now available for residents to view, along with full and short versions of the consultation questionnaire.

The consultation documents are available in libraries and online at www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.
