A LLANFAIR Caereinion man who entered his ex-girlfriend’s house in the middle of the night has pleaded guilty to a charge of assault.

Simon Howells, 30, of Awelfa, Llanfair Caereinion, pleaded guilty to the charge at Welshpool Magistrates' Court.

Stephen Davies, prosecuting, said the incident took place in the early hours of October 10. Louise Coward  woke up with Howells drunk at the end of her bed.

Howells tried to talk about text messages he believed Miss Coward had sent to a friend of his but she told him there were no such messages and asked him to leave.

Howells said: “You know when you really want to kick someone’s teeth in.”

He lay on top of Miss Coward who managed to get him off and told him to get out. Howells left the property and the police later arrested him.

In police interview Howells said he had walked past her house and seen the front door open and went in to see if everything was okay.

Mitigating, Huw Williams, said his client had no previous convictions and that the incident had been a ‘one-off’.

He said Howells recognised he had been wrong not to leave when asked.
The matter was adjourned for a full pre sentence report and Howells will be sentenced on December 14.
