A SCAM telephone number with a Cardiff area code appears to be targetting mobile phone users across the UK.
The number, which ends in 3150, contacts mobile phone users regularly throughout the day, although when the call is answered a dialling tone is heard, according to those who have reported the issue online.
A number of websites including WhoCallsMe.com and Callid.org have been inundated with messages from concerned mobile phone owners who have received numerous calls from the number.
One user said, “[The number] calls me about twice a week and every time I answer the line is silent. I’m getting a bit annoyed about it now.”
Another user posted on October 25, “Be careful and check your phone bills in case you are being charged for the calls when you answer, and when you phone back even though it is silent.
"Sounds like a scam I have heard going around before from friends.”
Users have reported receiving up to 30 calls from the number.
