NEWTOWN will look to exorcise the demons of the Gnoll at home to struggling Bala Town on Saturday (2.30pm).

Manager Andy Cale watched his side’s dream start to the season end in a nightmare 5-0 thrashing at Neath last weekend - just one short of their worst ever top flight defeat.

However Cale defended his side and hopes the Robins faithful will cheer on their side upon their return to Latham Park.

Cale defended his troops, saying: “It would have taken an outstanding performance from us to match Neath on the day.

“Neath have invested heavily and invested well and will be up there with the front runners this season.

“It was disappointing to lose 5-0 but we held out until half-time and then some tactical changes backfired.

“Our expectations this season are to stay in the league, which puts a different emphasis on the game at home to Bala.

“To survive at this level we have to beat the sides who will be scrapping for points around us.”

Defender Mike Jackson returns to bolster the defence after marring his debut three weeks ago with a red card.

The club have meanwhile retained defender Robbie James despite reported interest from Technogroup Welshpool, who were also rebuffed in their pursuit of Callum Wright.
