With budgets being tight and expensive holidays therefore coming at a premium, the general public is finding it difficult to find affordable places for a nice break. To try to combat this, holidaymakers are now looking for a cheap hotel to stay in when making their holiday plans.

New York City isn’t typically the kind of place that people associate with cheap, but with the credit crunch affecting so many people in so many different ways no person or no place is immune, no matter how strong their reputation may be. New York’s tourism industry, along with every other place’s, has had to wake up to this fact and start implementing methods by which it can begin to incentivise more people to take breaks in the city. Having cheap hotels for visitors to stay in is now essential if the tourism market of a location is to succeed.

The hotels in New York have always been renowned for high quality service and therefore some pretty steep bills. But as a way to try to attract more people, accommodation prices are beginning to be lowered.

For example, tourists who go to New York to see the shows on the world famous stages of Broadway can now stay at hotels such as the Manhattan Broadway Hotel, which will help them keep hold of more money to spend on what they really came for.

New York is quite possibly the most famous city on the planet and is often seen as the most vibrant spot in the USA. With so much to see and do it isn’t hard to see why this is the case. They say that you can judge a place by how many songs it is mentioned in and New York certainly comes up in a few!

The most famous building in New York (and ranking high in the whole of the US) is the Empire State Building. Standing at 1,453 ft and 102 stories high, this was for 30 years the tallest building on the planet.

The Empire State Building was built in the middle of the great depression in 1931 and didn’t make a profit until the 50s. Located on Fifth Avenue, the skyscraper was built in an inconvenient spot for business as it was a fair distance from any train or tube station; but in 1951 it was sold to a New York brokerage firm for $51 million, which proceeded to use it as its offices.

Tourists are free to take a lift to the top floor of the building and enjoy the stunning views it has to offer. If they wish to, they can try and climb to the top via the stairs.

Synonymous with the city of New York, of course, is the Statue of Liberty. To many Americans the statue is more than just a landmark; it is a representation of the values they believe their country represents. As one of the very first things any person would see arriving by boat, the monument is the ideal welcome to the country.

Located on Liberty Island, the statue was designed by a Frenchman who later gave it to the Americans as a gift and a symbol of what “the people of France” hoped would be a healthy and successful political relationship.

Tourists can take a boat out to Liberty Island to see the statue and climb it. From here you can get a great view of the city and feel the satisfaction of knowing that you have climbed one of the world’s most famous landmarks.

The truth is that New York is far too great of a city not to have people visiting it. Thanks to some of the cheap hotel deals on offer, this will never be the case.
