A TEN-PIN bowling alley could be built in the basement of Welshpool Town Hall, we can reveal.

Welshpool Town Hall are in the process of submitting a planning application to change the use of the town hall’s basement so it can be used for leisure purposes.

And Welshpool town clerk Robert Robinson has confirmed this could include a mini ten-pin bowling alley or a youth cafe.

“At the moment the basement of the town hall is just an empty room that is not being used,” he said.

“It is a really good size, it covers about two third of the town hall and is also a decent height. It is a shame to have such an unused space so we have decided to submit a ‘change of use’ planning application.

“We want it to be used for leisure and two of the ideas we have are a mini bowling alley and a youth cafe.”

The idea of a Bowling Alley has been discussed on previous ocassions and nothing seem's to have changed. The only change noticed within the past three years is that bricks have been put in the window's where previously the old Town Hall toilet's could be seen. Why should councillor's be paid to blow more 'hot air'?
