THE excitement of the prestigious 2010 Tour of Britain professional cycle race is coming to Newtown - and local Honda dealer JT Hughes is offering one lucky winner the opportunity to see the third stage of the race from the front seat of a Honda travelling side by side with the cyclists.
Honda (UK) is the official car partner to the Tour of Britain and motorcycle provider to the Tour's ITV4 mobile television crew.
Local Honda dealer JT Hughes will be supporting the third stage of the eight-day race - the stage starting in Newtown - which begins on September 13.
Because Honda is the official vehicle supplier, Honda cars and motorcycles will be used throughout the event, accompanying riders on their 763-mile journey around Britain, and the Newtown dealer will have a dedicated presence at the start line, hosting giveaways and cheering the cyclists on.
Honda has one VIP ticket to give away - instead of watching the event from the sidelines, the lucky winner will get a seat in one of the Honda road cars which drive just a few metres away from the racers for the entire race.
This incredible, one-of-a-kind experience offers an unbeatable view of the action, allowing the winners to follow the race in a way that others only dream of.
All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is answer the following simple questions. What's the total distance cyclists will cover during the Tour of Britain"? and what car company is sponsoring the Tour of Britain?
Entries must be emailed to news@countytimes.co.uk. Please put Tour of Britain as the subject and entries must include a home phone number and mobile number.
The closing date for entries is Friday, September 10. The competition closes at noon that day, and the winner will be notified over the weekend.
The Tour of Britain is the UK's biggest professional bicycle race, and attracted more than a million roadside spectators in 2009.
Now in its seventh year, the race will begin in Rochdale, Greater Manchester on Saturday, September 11, and will finish seven days later in London. The event will come to Newtown and Swansea on Monday, September 13.
Honda's support of the Tour of Britain is a natural partnership. The company has been part of the UK manufacturing scene since 1985, and cars produced in Honda's Swindon plant include the Civic, CR-V and Jazz.
The Tour of Britain entourage will be using Honda cars and motorcycles, including the Honda Civic and ST1300 Pan European.
Honda is also supporting British-born rider and Olympic gold medallist Ed Clancy as he takes part in the Tour of Britain.
