A FALCONER who successfully tamed Britain’s most daunting dragons on TV will be showing her skills at Llandyssil’s Dragon Fest.
Fresh from securing the backing of entrepreneur Duncan Bannatyne on the BBC show Dragons Den, Layla Bennet of Hawksdrift Falconry will be providing a display at the popular village event.
It is only a matter of weeks since Layla and her Gyr Falcon Monty were catapulted into the national spotlight thanks to their appearance on the popular TV show.
Layla secured £50,000 to develop her business following the appearance, but she is keen to give back to her local community and is delighted to be appearing at Dragon Fest.
She said: “I’m really looking forward to it, it’s nice to do especially because of the connection with the dragons.”
Dragon Fest, which is now in its third year, takes place on September 11 in Llandyssil.
The organisers are thrilled at having secured Hawksdrift Falconry to appear at the event, and Layla has also put up a Falconry Experience as a raffle prize.
She will also be taking along a marquee where festival goers will be able to see Monty up close as well as checking out one of her owls and hawks.
The event will feature a number of games such as Dragonheart, The Hafren Hoop-la, Dragon’s Teeth, Snack-a-Drag, Dragon’s Try, as well as a £100 prize raffle.
All ages are welcome to the event and a colourful enthusiastic parade will process at 12.30pm from the Upper House pub.
Visitors to the festival will also be able to listen to live music, or watch the line and disco dancers, or a Tai Chi demonstration, as well as laughing at the raw leek (or onion) eating competition and cheering on at the Wellington World Cup Penalty Shoot Out.
