THE annual Welsh Food Festival will be cooking up the country’s finest foods this weekend in the grounds of Glansevern Hall, Berriew.

The Welshpool Projects classic bus service will be running on the Sunday, linking the town with the festival site.

A free half-hourly shuttle service will leave the Tourist Information Centre starting at 9am, with the last bus back from Glansevern at 4.45pm.

The 2010 Welsh Food Festival will feature more producers than ever before and some of the youngest and most famous chefs in the UK.

Celebrating its fifth year, the festival is the largest in Mid Wales and the borders with leading TV chef Bryn Williams and weather presenter Siân Lloyd joining more than 100 producers and activity providers to ensure there is plenty on offer to satisfy both young and old alike.

Bryn will be preparing mouth watering dishes similar to those he prepared for the Queen’s 80th birthday celebrations; while Siân will be demonstrating her cookery skills alongside award winning demonstrator Dai Chef.

Dai’s exuberance, coupled with Siân’s knowledge of good, local food promises to be a perfect combination.

One of Britain’s rising culinary stars, Luke Thomas, will also be at the festival. At only 16 he’s already worked with some of the best known chefs including Gary Rhodes and Le Pergola in Rome. Luke has also cooked for Prince Charles.

And chef Tim Harrison will be preparing food over an open fire, while Gloria Lambourne, who specialises in Malaysian and Oriental cuisine, will share her culinary tips for providing exotic and healthy food.

The home of Neville and Jenny Thomas, Glansevern Gardens provide an ideal setting with budding young gardeners having the chance to meet and join the Acorns junior gardening club, pot up violas in decorated pots; willow weaving and learn more about composting from the Shropshire composters.

The Welsh Food Festival is sponsored by Wynnstay Group plc, Tanners Wine Merchants, RES, the Royal Oak, Pickstock Fuels, Harrisons Solicitors, Lloyd’s Animal Feeds, Potters Recycling and the Welsh Assembly Government.
