CITY chief Nev Powell is looking for his side to lay down a marker with victory over Llanelli at Farrar Road this Saturday (2pm).
After a superb European run and promising start to the league campaign, there’s a growing feeling at Farrar Road that the Citizens can have a major impact in this season’s race for the Welsh Premier League title.
And, following an impressive 3-2 win over Bala Town, the Blues boss wants his side to maintain its 100 per cent record by beating the Reds.
Powell said: “This is a massive game for us - after beating Neath quite deservedly and then going to Bala and getting three points, we need to do the same against Llanelli and draw a line in the sand.
“We’ve got the best group of players at the club that we’ve had for many years, they all get on together and confidence is sky high so it’s an ideal time to play them.”
He added: “Hopefully we’ll have a decent crowd to back us up and we’re quite optimistic if we carry on playing the way we have been, and the lads are raring to go.”
Bangor came away from Maes Tegid last weekend with three hard earned points.
During a frantic opening City were behind in the sixth minute to a Chris Mason header, but Dave Morley levelled from the spot moments later when Craig Garside was brought down in the Lakesiders area.
Chris Jones added a second for Bangor a minute later and Alan Bull scored the third before the break.
Neil Fisher pulled one back for the hosts after the restart but City held on; Powell said: “To be a goal down at Bala and to come back so fast showed the character of this team - I was happy with the performance and delighted with the three points.
“Let’s hope we can do the same against Llanelli this Saturday.”
