Knife wielding robber sought by police

NEWTOWN Police are seeking a knife wielding robber after a man was forced to hand over money in a incident near to the railway station.

A spokesman for Newtown Police said: “Some time between 1.30pm and 2pm on Wednesday, August 25, a 32 year old male was confronted by a man with a knife opposite the railway station in Newtown.

“The offender demanded cash and the victim, in fear for his safety, handed money over. The man then made off toward the town centre away from the railway station. The victim attended Newtown police station and reported the matter. He was unhurt.”

The robber is described as a white male, aged between 25 and 33, skinny build, 5' 11" to 6' tall.

Police said he had a distinctive fresh looking scar on the left side of his face and was wearing a dark blue waterproof hooded jacket, black trousers and black trainers.

The police at Newtown would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and who can assist the police. Anyone who has information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
