THIS year’s Montgomery Show proved to be yet another success despite many rainy intervals.

Town Crier Sue Blower said: “It was a great success, everyone came dressed for the weather. It never dampens Montgomery people’s spirits”.

The show, which was held on Saturday, August 21, at the Lymore Meadow, was attended by hundreds of visitors.

The sun briefly came out as the entertaining floats and street performers began their parade along Broad street at 12.30pm.

The show’s opening ceremony was performed by this year’s presidents, Peter and Carolyn Stewart, at 12.45pm, and was followed by songs with the Knighton Silver Band.

There was good fun to be enjoyed by all ages including a dog show.
The overall winner of the horticultural section was Tom Rowland.

The night before saw many supporting the runners competing in the Neil Howells Memorial Race and Fun Run.

The winners of the Memorial Race were: Roland Stafford of Maldwyn Harriers (28.48 mins); Joanne Thatcher of Aberystwyth AC (33.02 mins). Fun run winners: Arthur Jones of Llanchystud (8.18 mins); Sarah Williams of Montgomery (9.27 mins).
