A MAN who died when his motorcycle crashed into a tree in Shropshire on Sunday has been identified.

Alan Hickman, 62, of Church Road in the Wolverhampton area, was killed on the A483 near Oswestry at about 1pm on Sunday, August 22.

He was involved in a collision with another motorcycle going the same way towards Welshpool after completing an overtaking manoeuvre, it is thought.

A post-mortem examination has been held and an inquest was expected to open later this week, police said.

Mr Hickman was pronounced dead at the scene, after crashing into a tree near Mile End roundabout.

He was with several friends also on motorcycles.

They had just negotiated the roundabout and overtaken a white Ford Transit van when the collision happened.

West Mercia Police has appealed for witnesses to come forward.
