A PUBLIC meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday night, to discuss proposals to build a 1,000-cow milking shed in Leighton.

Members of the public have expressed concern about the extent of the proposals which have been submitted to the Powys Planning Register, including concerns over the animals' welfare.

The proposals include “an extension to the existing dairy unit to accommodate the housing of 1,000 dairy cows, to include the erection and siting of a multi-storey parlour, three livestock cubicle buildings, fodder storage building, two slurry stores and a water storage tower, together with associated engineering operations, landscaping and highways.”

The meeting is scheduled to take place at Leighton village hall near Welshpool on Wednesday, August 25 at 7pm.
