BRITISH Transport Police (BTP) officers investigating an alleged sexual assault on board a train between Caersws and Machynlleth.
Officers received a report that between 8.15pm and 8.45pm on Thursday, August 12, a male passenger on the 7.30pm Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth service sat next to and began harassing a 24-year-old female passenger.
The man also made inappropriate comments towards the woman who at first tried to ignore him before leaving the carriage and reporting the man’s behaviour to a member of train staff.
PC Andy Chadwick said: “BTP officers are treating this incident, which took place as the train travelled between Caersws and Machynlleth rail stations, as a sexual assault and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to contact police.
“It may be that you have vital information which could assist our investigation.”
