Spar Mid Wales League - complete midweek round-up

WILL Thomas ran the show as Berriew maintained their early season promise with a 4-1 midweek conquest of local rivals Carno at Ty Brith.


Substitute Rhydian Morris completed the tally while Carno mustered a consolation through Peter Rees but failed to prevent Berriew topping the first division table.


Elswhere a solitary strike from summer signing Matthew Jones saw Llansanffraid Village clinch a hard-fought 1-0 win at Dyffryn Banw, as Ray Jones' side remained unbeaten.


Llanrhaeadr ground out a 2-0 win at Waterloo Rovers in a drab encounter at Maesydre with youngster Ken McKay and veteran Emyr Roberts netting as Mario Iaquinta’s side avenged last season’s Central Wales Cup final defeat.


Meanwhile Bow Street manager Emyr Jones marked his first game at the helm with a 2-0 victory at home to Dolgellau Athletic in front of more than 150 fans.


Gwion Ap Dafydd netted on his debut while last season's top goalscorer Dean Evans also opened his account for the season.


Elsewhere Aled Jones came off the bench to net a hat-trick as Builth Wells thumped local rivals Presteigne 5-1 to celebrate their first win of the season.


Shane Pritchard and Harry Bastable also netted for Builth while Presteigne pulled back a consolation goal through Johnny Bird.


Llanidloes Town also got off the mark in a 4-1 win at Newbridge thanks to goals from Rhys Evans, Matthew Savage, Barry Bellis and Jack Bermingham with Matt Aubrey replying.


Penparcau crashed to a 4-3 defeat at Tywyn with two goals from Stuart Rogers and further efforts from Paul Grant and Mark Edmonson edging a seven-goal thriller.


Penparcau hit back through Mattie Davies, Mike Gornall and Mark Gornall with the latter also seeing his penalty saved by Tywyn goalkeeper Arwyn Davies.
