SOME of the youngest and most famous chefs in the UK will be heading to Glansevern Hall Gardens at Berriew on Saturday and Sunday, September 4 and 5, for the 2010 Welsh Food Festival.

The festival will feature more producers than ever before.

Celebrating its fifth year the festival is the largest in Mid Wales and the borders with leading TV chef Bryn Williams and weather presenter Siân Lloyd joining more than 100 producers and activity providers to ensure there is plenty on offer to satisfy both young and old alike.

“The festival is a delight for all the family with demonstrations from leading chefs, hands on activities for children and a myriad of gardening inspiring ideas to take home. With something to ignite everyone’s passion, visitors won’t be disappointed by what promises to be the perfect way to spend a summers day,” said Festival chairman Bernard Harris.

Key attractions will include:
* TV chef Bryn Williams preparing mouth watering dishes similar to those he prepared for the Queen’s 80th birthday celebrations.
* TV presenter Siân Lloyd demonstrating her cookery skills alongside award winning demonstrator Dai Chef. Dai’s exuberance, coupled with Siân’s knowledge of good, local food promises to be a perfect combination.
* One of Britain’s rising culinary stars, Luke Thomas, will take to the stage at the festival. At only 16 he’s already worked with some of the best known chefs including Gary Rhodes and Le Pergola in Rome. Luke has also cooked for Prince Charles.
* Chef Tim Harrison will be preparing food over an open fire and Gloria Lambourne, who specialises in Malaysian and Oriental cuisine, will share her culinary tips for providing exotic and healthy food.
* Budding young gardeners will have the chance to meet and join the Acorns junior gardening club, pot up violas in decorated pots; willow weaving and learn more about composting from the Shropshire composters.
* Other activities include preparing delicious handmade pizzas and cooking them in a specially constructed wood fired oven.

For visitors craving something very special, The Walls restaurant, Oswestry, will provide a high quality dining experience in the restaurant marquee.

The Welsh Food Festival is sponsored by Wynnstay Group plc, Tanners Wine Merchants, RES, the Royal Oak, Pickstock Fuels, Harrisons Solicitors, Lloyd’s Animal Feeds, Potters Recycling and the Welsh Assembly Government.
