S4C’s harness racing flagship Rasus will feature the Penybont Races in a special show on Monday, August  23 at 9pm.

S4C cameras head for the famous meeting at Penybont in Radnorshire to cover the Wales & Border Counties' signature meeting.

Known as the ‘Wembley of Wales’, the meeting in the village near Llandrindod Wells, attracts a strong race card.

The coverage will feature a number of the top races and will look at the history of the event, first held in 1921.

The Rasus team also meet some of the characters who travel there in hope in the event held in the first week of August.

They include Mathew Roach, Llanybydder and Melvyn Griffiths, Ystradgynlais, while the programme also reminisces about one of the all-time greats, Hang On.

Ifan Jones Evans and Dot Davies present the coverage, with Wyn Gruffudd and Raymond Jenkins in the commentary box.
