Powys residents have a few weeks left to comment on key service priorities and identify potential savings as part of a county council budget consultation exercise.

The county council launched an innovative budget consultation exercise earlier this summer asking residents to comment on 21 different key services at public workshops, during face-to-face interviews and on-line.

Although the workshops and interviews have been completed the on-line exercise will remain on Powys County Council’s website until the end of the month. To take part go to www.powys.gov.uk and click on the Budget Consultation link.

Board Member for Finance, Councillor Tony Thomas said; "Like all local authorities we are facing huge budget pressures and wanted residents to either go along to a workshop or go on-line and take part in this crucial exercise. We have some tough decisions to make and want to hear what people think.”

During the summer exercise budget workshops were staged in Brecon, Llandrindod Wells, Newtown, Welshpool and Ystradgynlais, and more than 200 interviews were carried out in communities across the county.

The on-line exercise allows anyone who lives in Powys not able to visit a workshop or take part in an interview have their say about the budget dilemma. The on-line exercise closes at the end of August.
