Friday July 23
* ”CHICAGO”, first performances for the professional summer season production of the hit musical on to August 26 with shows most days at ABERYSTWYTH Arts Centre, with West End star Shona Lindsay back as Roxie Hart.
* ”THE DARTBOARD FOR WITCHES”, opening of new exhibition of contemporary work in textiles, on at ABERYSTWYTH Arts Centre to September 18.
Also “Bitten & Pressed” new exhibition of contemporary printmaking on to September 4.
* ”VALLEY”, paintings by local artist Robert Cunning on to August 14 at the BLEDDFA Trust Centre near Knighton.
* MAESMAWR ART GALLERY, the CAERSWS gallery hosts the Humourous Figures exhibition by award winning Welsh artist Euryl Stevens, on to July 31. Her work is highly inventive and energetic, with insightful observations of Welsh women combining the hilarity of Beryl Cook and the seriousness and poignancy of Lowry's Salford.

* MALDWYN QUILTERS, opening of the seventh annual exhibition, also on Saturday and Sunday at CARNO Community Centre, with chance also to win a double bed sized patchwork quilt and support Crossroads and The Stroke Association charities. * WILD ANGELS, singing group with handbell ringers at St Llonio’s Church, LLANDINAM.
* DAVID LLOYD MEMORIAL EXHIBITION, story of the south Wales artist who died last year and was reluctant to sell his art, on show at the Radnorshire Museum, LLANDRINDOD WELLS until September 5.
* LOKI, live band at the Cann Office Hotel, LLANGADFAN, following Dyffryn Banw Beach Boys versus Meifod Ladies Baywatch Babes football match.
* MUSEUM OF MODERN ART WALES, new exhibition at the MACHYNLLETH gallery features entries in the 2010 Machynlleth Festival Tabernacle Art Competition based on the final section of the poem “Ode to the Summer” by R. Williams Parry, with first prize won by Katy Webster of Mold.
Also “Common Threads” by environmental campaigner artist Caitlin Shepherd is on to September 4.
* TONY SKEGGS, popular regular singer songwriter at the Lowfield Inn, MARTON.
* JUDITH MOY, exhibition of new paintings by the Shrewsbury-based artist, at CountryWorks Gallery, MONTGOMERY, until August 11.
* WILL KILLEEN, Irish acoustic blues player mixing Celtic roots with American blues, at The Exchange, NEWTOWN.
* RE-ANIMATE, exhibition of contemporary animation by 39 artists from across the UK at the Oriel Davies Gallery, NEWTOWN together with prize winners in the competition launched last December reflecting animation at its most diverse and fascinating.
Visitors have to early August to chose their favourite for the People’s Choice Prize.
Also on to August 18 is Dawn Woolley’s “Interloper”, short digital video loop examining female stereotyping.
* ANNE JENVEY, photographic artist who has lived in Newtown for 16 years, with exhibition until the end of July at the Theatr Hafren bar gallery, NEWTOWN.
* PHIL BEALES, cardboard sculpture exhibition at the Workhouse Gallery, PRESTEIGNE Industrial Estate, to July 29.
* BC ALL SKAS, all singing, all dancing ska band from Bishops Castle, at the Horseshoe Inn, RATLINGHOPE.
* ”IN THIS PLACE”, local CARAD history and nature exhibition with sculpture, photography and poetry created by local people, on to late October at RHAYADER Museum and Gallery.
* ”MURDERED TO DEATH”, the Agatha Christie spoof by Peter Gordon starring Graham Cole from “The Bill” and Sandra Dickinson, at Theatre Severn, SHREWSBURY, with final performances tonight and at 2.30 and 7.30pm on Saturday July 24.
* THE PANTOMIMES, at the Old Post Office, SHREWSBURY.

Saturday, July 24
* PARTY IN THE PARK, AMP youth music project event with local bands at BISHOPS CASTLE Playing Field. Colour Sunday among those added to the bill with Nuclear Weasels, Fight The Bear, BC All Skas, Down But Not Out, The Daughters, 24/7, Katie Green and friends, Men From Off, and others.
* MAET LOAF, Meatloaf tribute band live at the Cann Office, LLANGADFAN.
* POET DOGS, at the Bull Hotel, LUDLOW.
* MEDIEVAL MAYHEM, free day of family activities with the Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust including designing and making heraldic shields, at the Owain Glyndwr Institute, MACHYNLLETH, from 11am to 4pm.
* A DAY AT THE BRIDGES, celebration of music and the spoken word from 12noon at the Horseshoe Inn, RATLINGHOPE, including Miles Hunt and Erica Hockalls, Some Feathers, Dirty Ray, Rory Ellis, Amsterdam, Pete Keeley, Babytwin, Jake Flowers Band, Dan Donnelly, Rob Dunsford, Trinny Vickers, Daylevel, Kate Lewis, The Daughters, Bang On Samba, and more.
* MUSIC AT LEAOWES BANK, final summer festival dates at Leasowes Bank Farm, RATLINGHOPE, begin with the Esther Miller Quintet featuring the South African vocalist and her world class band mixing jazz standards and original songs.
Next Wednesday evening July 28, there will be a concert by The Auriol Trio featuring Eleanor Hudson on harp, Kevin Gowland on flute and David Aspin on viola.
Last date is Saturday evening, July 31, with festival founder John Williams and his new band Tenorama celebrating the 30th birthday of Music at Leasowes Bank.
