LIFE in the Welsh Counties Bowls League has not been kind to its two Anglesey sides of late, and that sinking feeling continued with losses for both teams in the latest round of games.
Beaumaris slipped a little closer towards the foot of the table as they were thrashed by seven games to one at title chasing Llay, whilst bottom side Llanfair PG blew a three game lead at home to fellow strugglers St Asaph.
Llanfair got off to a great start, with Keith Bailey (21 - 15 v Matthew Foster), John Glyn Davies (21 - 18 v James Williams) and John Evans (21 - 16 v Lewis Scott) put the hosts up by three games.
However St Asaph then won the remaining five games as Llanfair’s Ellis Roberts (17-21 v Ian Tricket), Hywel Roberts (15-21 v Scott Parry), Geraint Booth (20-21 v Phil Nash), Gwilym Roberts (12 v 21 Gareth Foster) and Arwel Williams (14 - 21 v Steve Dace).
The final aggregate score of 141-154 saw the bonus points also go the way of the visitors and move them within five points of Beaumaris.
Having began the campaign with four wins in eight Beaumaris have not won since the beginning of the month and were put to the sword by their opponents.
David Mathias was the only visiting player to pick up a win as he beat Richard Zolman by 16-21 to give a final score of seven games to one, and an aggregate of 163-100.
