WALES YFC has prepared an action packed programme of activities for this year’s Royal Welsh Show.

The YFC stage will be the main focus for many with colourful competitions and an array of activities taking place.

Kicking off the stage competitions will be club promotion competition, sponsored by NFU Cymru. Crowd-pulling competitions will also be held during the following three days, with the dancing competition on the Tuesday and the Stars in Your Eyes on the Wednesday.

The stage will also host the Rural Affairs Committee annual drinking boat race sponsored by Daioni and the annual TP time to raise money and awareness for the Wales YFC charity of the year.

There will also be a number of competitions held in the Cattle Ring, such as the seven a side rugby and the hotly contested tug of war competition which takes place on the Wednesday sponsored by Riverlea.

The Welsh Capable Campers will also be held in the Cattle Ring which is sponsored by Morgans Butchers and Pip Samuel, both from Builth Wells.

“As we know, the Royal Welsh Show is the highlight of the year for many of Wales YFC members, which is why we put so much hard work and effort into the four days of the show,” said Tim John, Wales YFC chairman.

“We have a jam-packed timetable of competitions of all sorts where well over a thousand members will be taking part – from the ever-traditional ‘YFC’ events such as the stock-judging sponsored by Dunbia, flower arranging sponsored by Deeside College and Cookery sponsored by Cambrian Training Company, to the newer events such as the Generation Game a special competition for junior members which is sponsored this year by Mantais.”

Most of the YFC spectacle will be held around the YFC centre and in the cattle ring, however three competitions will be held elsewhere on the Thursday.

The shearing shed will host the Wales YFC shearing competition and the Old Action Ring will host the Woodwork competition where competitors will be building dog kennels and the all Wales Fencing Final sponsored by Betafence.

He added: “As always, the support that we get from the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society and our sponsors in invaluable and without them we would not be able to offer our members such a wide range of competitions and events at the show.”
