A COMPANY has put planning permission in to Powys County Council to raise a 70-metre-high mast in Llanerfyl which could after a time be developed into a windfarm.
Tegni Ltd has proposed the erection of a 70-metre-high temporary anemometry mast for up to three years on land near Tre-Gwynt Mynydd Waun Fawr which is designed to monitor wind levels in the area.
Keith Bellis, from the company, said: “It’s a survey tool to see if a site could go there. It’s looking to see if its suitable.”
Mr Bellis also added that the site is under “the Welsh Assembly’s Technical Advice note 8, in the strategic search document” which is dedicated to planning for renewable energy and shows the areas where company’s can test for renewable energies.
This investigation could potentially lead to a wind farm site being built and Keith Bellis did say: “It’s a site investigation for the time being and we will see if it’s a possible site.”
