THE ‘weirdest’ sites in the UK, that was verdict of a TV presenter filming for her latest ghost hunting documentary series Most Haunted.

Yvette Fielding and her team will feature two Powys halls on the new series of Most Haunted over the coming weeks.

Both Maesmawr Hall, and Gregynog went under investigation by the Most Haunted team after findings from Mid Wales Paranormal (formerly known as Newtown Paranormal) and other reports showed that there was paranormal activity in the halls.

Gregynog Hall is not as well known for its hauntings, although there have been numerous reports of hauntings in the hall.

When Mid Wales Paranormal (MWP) investigated at the hall Anna, from the group, said: “There were light orbs and anomalies at the hall, and while investigating in a room upstairs, there was movement and the floor actually moved.”

The building is believed to be haunted by a man and his dog and a servant who appears in the cellar and the Davies sisters who used to manor the hall in the 1900s have also been reported as being seen.

More common haunted reports in Powys that the Most Haunted team have also been investigating, come from Maesmawr Hall. The 16th century hall has had many reports of paranormal activity, including those from the investigations of MWP.

Rory Evans, a co-founder of the group, has been going to Maesmawr since he was a child, and has been described as the most spiritualistic of the group as he uses a pendant pendulum as his guide.

Rory said: “The panelled room in the hall has always been the most atmospheric.
“An Elizabethan woman goes from end to end with keys and is said to be the housekeeper.”

The grounds of the hall have had many reported haunting cases, Mr Evans said that “there is a Roman road underneath the hall and Roman Legions have been seen.”

Karl Beattie co-presenter on Most Haunted said: “This is one of the most bizarre investigations I have ever had.”

Nigel Humphryson told the County Times last year that the Living TV’s crew, including Yvette Fielding and a medium, took over the hotel for three days to complete the filming.

Nigel said that the team held a seance and had found some “interesting things”.

There have also been many reported sightings of Robin Drwg (Wicked Robin), aka the Bullman because he apparently takes on the form of a bull and haunts a small wooded area of the grounds.

Yvette Fielding said on the bullman: “In life he terrorised the area, in death he terrorises the living.”

Lembit Opik, who showed Yvette Fielding the County Times’ haunted supplement while backstage at Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway show last year, said: “If she says Maesmawr is one of the most haunted places she has ever experienced then I believe her.

“While on the Ant and Dec show she persuaded me that Most Haunted is not a hoax.

“I have stayed at Maesmawr in the past and never experienced anything creepy but I know there have been some strange sighting nearby.”

The shows will be aired on Living TV on June 16 (Maesmawr) and 30 (Gregynog) at 10pm.
