A PARANORMAL group claim it had some deeply disturbing experiences when members carried out an investigation at Ruthin Gaol.
They say that during the night time vigil one of them felt she was being choked or strangled and that they also picked up indications of a vicious rape, the death of children in a fire and the feeling of torture being performed on someone.
The Orb Whisperers group set up its sensitive electronic detection equipment in various parts of the historic building which is reputedly-haunted.
Group spokesman Steven Pryce said: “The rape scenario appeared when our mediums picked up a woman who hated men.
“It appeared she was raped before she entered the prison and gave birth in there during the 1800s.
“The child was subsequently removed from her leaving her distraught and bitter.
“Later on in the investigation there were indications of children being burned in a fire at the prison during the early 1800s.
“Many lost their lives but two came through strongly – a young boy and girl aged about seven. Both died in the prison and due to our medium’s help and guidance were released into the light.”
Mr Pryce added: “We also encountered the malicious spirit of a man who taunted us through the whole night of our investigation.
“He told us he knew the team members personally and said he was connected to the prison, but upon further probing we found this spirit could not validate any personal details of the group.
“Our mediums also picked up a sense of dread, sickness, dizziness and an urge to vomit, which are all associated with the severe physical stress and duress of torture.
“The most chilling part of the night came when a psychic was investigating a lower cell. She encountered a nasty male spirit who swore at her.
"She said she also felt as if she was strangled or choked.”
