Thierry Henry to New York? What a coup that would be

IT’S been a very busy few weeks for me over here. The season has started excellently for us as a team and we are currently top of our conference with five wins out of our first eight games – and that’s with us losing our last two matches.

We have beaten Philadelphia Union and DC United but have since lost to San Jose and Seattle as all the teams jostle for positions.

On a personnel note I have had a stop-start beginning as I have had to get my knee drained three times in three weeks and also had cortenzone injected to try and sort it out. Still the problem seems to be there as I am able to train and play but then need to rest for a few days and try and get the swelling down before going again.

Again rumours are surfacing here about Thierry Henry joining MLS and us here in New York. What a coup that would be for the club here and a benchmark for all other MLS teams!

Its’ now the end of the season in the UK and what can I say about Cardiff City? They have their biggest game in their history this weekend against Blackpool in a must-win match! What an occasion, one win and they are in the Premier League!

It would be massive for football in Wales if they could get there and would certainly help in their debt problems. It would be great also to see the Welsh players wanting to come back and play there in the top flight.

It’s that time of the year also when teams start releasing players as they plan for next year. Don’t be surprised to see the names that are floating about that will be without a club.

Every year it seems to get more and more as players all look for jobs.

The World Cup is in its build up as teams shape their squads, I suppose the question is can England win it? I think no but I don’t mind being proved wrong – but Spain, Argentina and Brazil might have something to say about that.

Finally, with being in New York you get lots of things to do and on Saturday I went to watch Amir Khan fight Paulo Magalini at Madison Square Gardens.

Khan won in the 11th round and it was great to support a Brit fighting over here!
