Don't write off the Gunners in the title race

WELL after our excellent performance and result against Santos we prepared for our first match of the season against Chicago Fire at the Red Bull Arena. Sadly I just missed out on the game, due a knee injury that I picked up the week earlier - but I was in full voice to cheer on the lads.

The game was again a thrilling match and both sides played very good football with us managing to win the match by a goal to nothing thanks to a fantastic strike by new signing Joel Lindpere. It was a good enough goal to grace any match and got us off to a cracking start for the MLS season.

This week we face a cracking match away at Seattle in one of the most hostile environments in the league. Seattle proved last year that being a new franchise team means nothing as they made the play offs in their first attempt and made their home a fortress.

Being in New York, I managed to go and watch the UFC 111 held in New Jersey on Saturday evening at the Prudential Centre. Fighting was the British boy Matt Hardy but he was outclassed by Canadian George St Pierre in the main event. Now this is tough, I thought boxing was hard but these guys go to another extreme.

You all must have seen one of the best performances of the season as Chelsea destroyed Aston Villa 7-1. What a result that was, and it leads them nicely into the match against Man Utd this weekend - which might decide the title.

However, don’t write off Arsenal, who if they win out the final seven matches will firmly believe that they can still win the title. I wouldn’t like to say who I think will win it but no doubt there will be more twists and turns to come.

Man Utd faced a tough Champions League tie away at Munich and after losing 2-1 and losing Wayne Rooney now need to pick themselves up for the weekend’s cracking fixture.

It certainly looks at the moment as if Pompey will be joined by Burnley going down this year but the final spot is the most interesting fight.

Four, maybe even five teams are in the mix, and I’m praying that Mick keeps the Wolves flying as they have been in superb form recently.

This weekend is the BIG Welsh derby as Swansea and Cardiff play in a massive match.

Form goes out of the window, pride is at stake, bragging rights, but most importantly crucial points for the play-off race. Will Newcastle seal their promotion to the Premier League with a win against Peterborough and will Norwich gain the points needed to move into the Championship?

Also I have been keeping a keen eye on Hereford’s results after losing their manager and Graham Turner has managed to steady the ship, as he usually does - whoever takes over there will have a great job as it is a super family club.

Finally, I must wish my daughter Lowri Isabella a happy birthday as well, she was eight this week and sadly I missed it again as I was away from her. Unfortunately it one of the hardest parts of playing football, missing things like this, and I’m sorry.
