LLANIDLOES High School represented Powys in the under 18s Welsh School and Colleges Finals in Swansea, reaching the semi-finals.
The under 18s side were following in the footsteps of the under 16s side which represented the region at that level last month.
The Mid Wales school represented the region with distinction and were eventually eliminated in the semi-finals by Eryri representatives Rhydal Penrhos while Gorseinion were the eventual winners.
Llanidloes opened their tournament with a 2-1 win over Blangwawr High School courtesy of Beth Lewis and Daisy Smith goals.
Ysgol Brynhyfryd led in the second pool game only for Daisy Smith to level, with a late brace from Sophie Rees completing a 3-1 win. Despite losing 4-0 to Gorseinion the Mid Wales side still progressed.
By now injuries had taken their toll and Llanidloes went down 2-1 to Penrhos in the semi-final with Sophie Rees netting.
Meanwhile Welshpool Ladies dispatched Dysynni with style and ease to maintain their push for the first division title in the North Wales Ladies’ League.
Once again Caroline Jones starred with another impressive goal haul seeing her find the net on four occasions.
Jacqui Loxam added a brace, while Lucy Davies completed the 7-1 rout.
Meanwhile Newtown were awarded victory after Colwyn Bay conceded their scheduled match at the Flash.
Elsewhere Debra Barker equalled a personal best with four of her side’s goals in Llanfair Caereinion’s 5-3 victory over Rhyl.
Ellen Jones completed Llanfair’s goal tally, while there were also promising displays from Harriott Titley at left back and fellow teenager Samantha Tudor who impressed in the forward line.
Radnor Ladies enjoyed a free weekend in the first division of the South Wales Ladies’ League, while Kington were hammered 7-0 at Swansea Bay in division two.
Presteigne remained on course for the Shropshire Ladies’ League title with Jess Goodwin hammering in a hat-trick, in a 4-0 win over Bridgnorth, with Rita Tomkins completing a superb victory.
The border side completed their weekend in fine fettle, with a 12-0 annihilation of Builth/Llandrindod in the KBS League on Sunday.
Deb Evans netted five goals, while Rita Tomkins and Carrie Tomkins joined Pru Napolitano in netting braces.
Elsewhere Paula Hughes’ early goal was cancelled out as Wem hit back to beat Montgomery 3-1 in the Shropshire Ladies’ League.
Newtown Men slipped further into the relegation dogfight following a 4-0 defeat at home to Streetly in the first division of the Bodykraft West Midlands Men’s League.
Braces apiece from Chris Booth and Craig Moore kept Streetly on target for promotion and Newtown looking over their shoulders.
