Saints held by resolute Waterloo

MARK Proctor was the unlikely saviour as Rovers stopped the rot with a crucial point at home to Llansanffraid.

The defender headed home Callum Bromley’s 52nd minute corner, despite the best efforts of the defence, to earn Waterloo a point.

The visitors started the brighter with Paul Marshall releasing Nathan Prodger to net after just 10 minutes.

Prodger was involved in most Llansanffraid attacks, with the ex-TNS and Guilsfield striker underlining his class in a superb display.

Following Rovers’ equaliser both sides had chances to win the game.
Josh Thomas fired against the woodwork for the Saints while James Vaughan wasted the home side’s most clear cut opportunity.

Rovers manager Dave Proctor said: “We needed to stop the slide and start scoring goals again so I am happy to take a point.”

Saints chief Ray Jones added: “A win would have pushed us up there with the leaders, but in view of our selection problems I felt a point was probably the fairest.”
