FORMER Wales international midfielder Carl Robinson has left Toronto FC to join Major League Soccer rivals New York Red Bulls.

New Toronto coach Preki Radosavljevic confirmed that the 33-year-old Llandrindod Wells-born midfielder had left the club, after a three-year stay in Canada.

County Times columnist Robinson, an original member of Toronto FC, was named the most valuable player in the club's first two seasons in MLS.

"It's a case of the numbers, it's a case of the salary cap, it's a case of everything," said Preki. "We believe he's already made up his mind that he's not coming back here."
