KEVIN Bryan turned his attention to the challenges of the unified second division, after overcoming a battling Newtown and pipping Llanidloes to promotion.
Having raced into a 14 point lead the hosts’ success was never in doubt despite a spirited second-half display from the visitors.
No8 Dorian Lloyd broke the deadlock, with a further try from inside centre Jonathan Davies extending the lead, with outside half Iwan Jones supplying both conversions.
Newtown mustered a reply with wing Sam Harris crossing for a try, which outside-half Rowan Meek converted.
Machynlleth steadied their nerves with a try from openside flanker Rhys Lewis, converted by the reliable boot of Jones.
Meek kicked a penalty to keep his side in contention, while prop Darren Evans also went over as Newtown threatened an upset.
However Machynlleth were not to be denied and clinched second place in Gogledd Division Two South with a try from Lewis.
