CAERSWS crashed to an 11th successive league defeat as title chasing Neath hit back, after their midweek humbling at Newtown.
In the end the professional visitors needed the introduction of former Wales international Chris Llewellyn to save the day.
Llewellyn came off the bench on the hour and within minutes made his impact, with a composed finish, after linking with Ashley Evans on the edge of the area.
Caersws have been much improved since the turn of the year and frustrated the Eagles for most of the game and belied their lowly league standing.
Neath had few chances with Kieron Howard’s spectacular bicycle kick soaring over, before being denied by Blues goalkeeper Dave Jones.
It was a similar story after the interval with Spanish defender Carlos Castan volleying just wide of the post after 52 minutes for the visitors.
While Neath could afford the luxury of introducing former Grimsby Town, Wrexham and Wales forward Llewellyn and Craig Steins, the Bluebirds refused to be ruffled and threatened a late comeback of their own.
Mark Griffiths’ goalbound shot was headed off the line by a desperate Castan, before youngster Jacob Smith fired agonisingly close at the death, as Caersws pressed for an equaliser.
However the result leaves Caersws without a point since October and with only one league win to their names this season, which came against local rivals, Technogroup Welshpool back in August.
