TECHNOGROUP Welshpool’s general manager is hopeful that a new committee structure will bring more fans back to the club.
The club held a meeting to discuss switching to a committee led structure last Sunday, and general manager, Liam Pritchard, said the plan has been agreed in principle.
He said: “We agreed the new structure in principle and everyone thinks that’s the way to proceed, that’s the way most Cymru Alliance clubs are run.”
A follow up meeting will now take place at the Angel, Welshpool, at 7.30pm on February 21, when the proposal is expected to be confirmed.
Pritchard said: “I would encourage anyone who wants to be part of the committee to come along and hopefully we can set one up in advance of next season.”
Pritchard said he believes a change in the way the club is run will help to involve more of the public of Welshpool.
He said: “It has been run as a business in recent years, which a lot of people feel left them out and we are trying to reverse that really.
“There has been a loss of community spirit in recent years. Being part of the Welsh Premier you have to run the club as a business, but that’s edged out a few volunteers.
“At the moment we have got about four people covering everything and it’s not sustainable.”
