SAFE and Secure Newtown League officials are becoming increasingly concerned at the number of fixtures already postponed this season.
All of last Sunday’s matches were affected by the overnight snow and frost, to add to an already considerable backlog.
League secretary, Owen Durbridge said: “Last season was a bad enough example of having too many fixtures to fit in, but this season still has to survive the month of February, which is traditionally wet or cold.”
Meanwhile the Bell Hotel team have decided to withdraw and a lot of their players are transferring to the Angel Newtown, to make one better team.
Durbridge said: “There will be disciplinary action against the team for pulling out of the league, but at least the players will be able to secure a regular game of football henceforth.
“The adjustment to the league results and goals scored will make a difference to the remaining teams’ statistics with all points and goals deducted from the league database.”
