PASSIONATE and energetic artist and teacher Caroline Jones is exhibiting her latest work at the White Lion Street Gallery in Tenby.

Caroline works in a large studio housed in an outbuilding on the smallholding she shares with her husband, and an assortment of creatures from bees to bullocks, in Carmarthenshire. She is inspired by all things Welsh, especially the landscapes around her and enjoys painting people found in the rural community of farms and markets too. Holidays abroad provide her with the challenge of representing a different light and heat to that found in west Wales, and populated beach, town and night scenes provide a contrast to the landscapes of high rocky outcrops of Garn Fawr and Strumble, the beaches of Druidston, Langland and Wiseman’s Bridge, and seascapes of three counties.

Featuring brilliant and sometimes improbable colours, bold compositions and moods that range from fiesta time to calm contemplation, these are not subtle representations of local landscapes but are joyous personal responses in paint to the artist’s surroundings.

The exhibition of Caroline Jones will show until October 28th at The White Lion Street Gallery in Tenby, from 10am to 5pm (closed Wednesday). For more information visit www.artmatters.org.uk or call 01834 843375.
