MEMBERS of the Llandrindod Wells Theatre Company are busy rehearsing for their annual pantomime. Their 2010 production is based around the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, written by John Morley, but it takes place in a highly colourful and lively circus surrounding.
The traditional family pantomime has all the usual pantomime characters including Sadie Spangle the dame, played by Phil Evans, Benjamin Black, a typical baddie played by James Evans, and Goldilocks –played by Iona Tattersall – together with the three bears played by Brigid Leadbetter, Elliot Francis and Melissa Blees.
There is a traditional circus atmosphere with plenty of clowns who add tremendous colour to the production with Ronnie the Ringmaster played by Zoë Evans. More than 60 members of the theatre company will participate in the show, including back stage crews and lighting technicians.
The show is directed by Phil Evans, and for the first time this year will have a six-piece orchestra, led by Jonas Tattersall. The company will take to the stage of the Albert Hall at Llandrindod Wells for three performances over the weekend of Friday and Saturday, January 29/30, including an afternoon matinee on the Saturday.
Tickets for the event can be obtained from the Victorian Festival Shop in Middleton Street or Roger Manning on 01597 829036. Alternatively, tickets will be available at the door half an hour before each performance.
The choreography for the production has been done by Zoë Evans, costumes and make up by Mandy Davies and the lighting by Phil Hobbs.
