Action’s hotting up in both the Championship and in the MLS

WELL I hope everyone had a great Christmas and fantastic new year, and let's all hope 2010 is a far more positive year than the previous one.

It’s been a lovely Christmas for me as I've got to spend some quality time with the kids - although the phone hasn't stopped ringing but that's part of the job I suppose. Lots of questions, will I? Won't I? Am I?

Then there was new year and I went to see my old pal, Burnley captain Steve Caldwell, to see it in.

Even though I've had time off the football has been still going on here. I've been keeping a close eye on the Premiership with some crazy results throughout. Arsenal are sneaking up nicely, with Aaron Ramsey in cracking form. I have to say that Fulham and particularly Roy Hodgson have been fantastic and it’s no surprise him being linked to the England job.

The Championship is as crazy as ever. Newcastle and West Brom flying high, but Cardiff are still stuttering but well in the mix. They can be brilliant on their day but then can go and produce a performance like the second half against Peterborough when they conceded four goals in the away draw. I still have a feeling that their star player, Joe Ledley, will be away soon and that will be a big blow to them. Sneaking up nicely are Notts Forest too who have been outstanding under Billy Davies. Goals galore, clean sheets and a winning mentality.

Finally it looks like the mess at QPR is over with Paul Hart installed after Jim Magilton left under a cloud. He says he was innocent, but the press said he wasn't after clashing with a player. It’s funny how things get out, but what I will tell you is that there is always one ‘mole’ in each club.

And who can say I wonder if John Carver has had an affect at Plymouth? Two wins out of two. There is your answer!

Hopefully the weather will improve as there have been many games called off and that leads to a big backlog at the season.

The MLS superdraft is happening in less than 10 days time and expect there to be lots of moves and trades for players as teams try to shape their 2010 squad.
There is rumoured to be top players in this draft although Toronto do not yet have a first round pick!

Lastly I have to mention Phil Taylor winning his 15th world title. Talk about a true great. ‘The Power’ is the best of the best!
